Dream Porsche garage up for sale

It seems you can have too much of a good thing after all, even if that thing is Porsche 911s. Just ask WhatsApp co-founder, Jan Koum.

odern Classics was there when he turned the Porsche market on its head by waxing £3.5m in an hour and a half on three lightweight aircooled 911s at RM Sotheby’s Battersea sale in 2016.

Little more than two-and-a-half years later, Koum’s trimming down his collection – weeding out the cars he just doesn’t get to drive.

‘If I had unlimited time and unlimited garage space, I would never sell any of them,’ he said. ‘I’ll be happy to see the next owner enjoy driving these special cars on the road or on the racetrack – just as Porsche intended for them to be used.’

Gooding & Company will be putting them up for sale on March 6 at its Amelia Island sale in the US. One of his haul from Battersea, a one-of-55, 1993 Carrera RS 3.8 (964), is included. There’s also a 1995 Carrera RS 3.8 (993) and a standard 1992 Carrera RS (964). But there’s more...

There’s also the GT3 RS 3.6 (997), GT3 3.8 RS (997), GT3 4.0 RS (997) and a GT2 (997) in case you’re packing serious amounts of cash. And if you fancy something newer, there’s a 911 R, 918 Spyder Weissach and a Cayman GT4 to choose from. More details and some frankly pornographic video can be found at goodingco.com
