Trending: Stop! Hammer time at London auction
Here’s the German muscle car holy grail – the AMG Hammer. Just 12 were built and this October provides a very rare chance to buy one; this one’s up for grabs with RM Sotheby’s at its London sale on 24 October.
o give the car its full title, the Mercedes-Benz 300 CE 6.0 AMG is powered by a 375bhp V8 that delivers 400lb-ft, springing you to 60mph in five seconds.
This 1992 car spent most of its life in Japan, before coming to Europe in 2014, where it was repainted in black. It’s covered a meagre 77,500km (48,156 miles).
Offered with no reserve, it’s part of the Youngtimer collection that RM have been selling all year.
Among the other eyecatching lots is a 1991 AMG 560 SEC Widebody, apparently one of 50 6.0-litre conversions produced. It provides twice the torque at half the engine speed – and the M117 was hardly known for lacking low-down thump. If that’s lacking in capacity for you, then a 1999 SL73 R129 is also up for grabs. This car is powered by the 525bhp 7.3-litre V12 that went on to power the Pagani Zonda. Fewer than 50 were built, and this one seems barely broken in at a lowly 35,000km.
You can also choose from a one-of-45-built E60 (E500 W124 with a 6.0-litre engine), a SL60 R129, AMG SL65 Black and an AMG SLS. Other Youngtimer collection highlights include a BMW 850 CSi, Ferrari 412, Lamborghini LM002 and Diablo VT and a Wiesmann GT. There’s also a selection of three Bentleys – Brooklands, Continental SC and Turbo RT. More details can be found at rmsothebys.com
